I bought this book after watching her demonstrate a cooking episode on TODAY. It arrived within a day or so, and just coincided with my granddaughter's birthday. I decided to try out the Fudgy Chocolate Frosting on a cake I had planned to bake. Pretty risky to try a new recipe on such a special occasion, but not to worry. It did not disappoint! The most delicious frosting ever. I read the first section, and really learned a lot about assembling a cake, as well as how to try different frostings. The directions are clear, and there are nice photographs of the cakes. I especially like the "A Message from the Cake Lady" notations throughout the book that go into detail about various aspects of baking, giving advice and suggestions. There are many cakes in this cookbook that I will certainly try. Some look easy, while others will be a learning opportunity for me. Best little piece of information is her B.A.D.A.S.S. system - read to find out!
I am NOT a fan of this book. I am a baker myself and I love looking at new cook books with beautiful or fun cakes. I found her methods VERY old school and a lot of her techniques Very time consuming and unnecessary. This book is also very advanced in some ways that the average baker is not going to understand what the heck she’s talking about. Also I found the book jumps all over the place which leads you to just want to throw it in the pile of “ never used†recipes. This book gets to technical Which causes you to lose interest. I wouldn’t recommend this book unless you have hours on end to make her cakes! 👎ðŸ»
Gorgeous book, gorgeous photos, many recipes and techniques. The possibilities are endless. You will not be disappointed and you will never buy a box mix again! For the reviewer who was upset about not having a recipe for the striped cake, it is a frosting technique that is explained on pages 12,13 and 215. Pipe stripes of different colored frosting on the side of the cake, smooth with a bench scraper. Happy Baking
I have all her cookbooks and decided I had to complete my collection. Her cookbooks never disappoint. I'm really glad I got this cookbook.

Very Nice book but the recipe I wanted most was not in this book. there’s a photo of the striped cake, but no recipe of how to make it.That was disappointing for sure.
I loved the information & ideas in this book. I wish there was a binder that would allow the book to lay flat while I was using.I also wish there was a way to ask the author questions. All I could find was an email for her publisher.
The book is absolutely gorgeous! Very detailed, lots of fun techniques. I am a huge fan and own all her books. If you're into home baking and want some new ideas, order this book. â¤ï¸
