As much as I love Dina Wakely as an artist, I love her even more as a teacher. Her first book is a much referred to resource for me. I am NOT disappointed with this second book! Dina encourages you on your own journey as an art journalist and helps by showing and teaching you how. She relates to you from how she has learned but the book is not about her, its about you and how you can express your best artistic self. I highly recommend this book, as well as Art Journal Freedom.
This is one of the best art reference books out there! If you love edgy art Dinas stencils, paints. rubber stamps and creating with paint this is for you! I also I have Art Journal Freedomand love them both equally! I recently moved from Florida to Texas and I was so afraid I might missplace these that I made sure I had them in my car NOT the moving truck! That's how much I love these books and homeport and they are to me in my art ! Dina is simply THE BEST artist, instructor and author.
Dina's art is beautiful and the photographs were clear and colorful. Dina detailed (in words and photos) many different techniques she uses to create her journal pages. She also included a helpful chapter about how to get started with art journaling and provided numerous prompts that can be used as jumping off points for creating journal pages. This was one of the best and most inspiring books/tutorials about art journaling that I have seen.
Love the pages that tell you what to expect when layering various media. Wondering if you can use ink over acrylic paint? Or a pen over gesso? Buy this book! Best art journaling book I've ever owned. Very informative along with the usual step-by-step guides that you can tweak to make your own.
Get inspired! I loved this book. I thought the author's approach was very encouraging, and clear. She explains the process to art journaling, and gives you the freedom to express yourself while teaching you some of the basics. I enjoyed the book and have put much of what I learned into practice. I recommend anyone who is interested in learning about this addictive, artistic craft to read it.
As much as I LOVE Dina Wakley's style - I was a little disappointed with the repetition of page designs. I would still buy it again.
I am a fan of Dina Wakley and liked this book a lot. I found the lessons helpful and easy to follow. I liked the results. My only regret is that I got it on Kindle and wanted to flip back and worth but it is working. Yes this has been well worth the money. I have her Feedom book also and like it too!
This book is bright and beautiful, has many, many pictures--which I personally prefer! The descriptions and wonderful and really stir my creative juices. I'm so happy I purchased this!
